It is another year and we are excited to announce that we are going to be having the annual Lake Havasu chili cook-off. This ICS-sanctioned cook-off event has been successful the previous edition as it has brought the community together as well people from all around and has always been a fun event to look forward too, and, this years’ cook-off promises to be exciting and even better. It is going to take Saturday the 2nd of March at 12pm-3pm prompt at London bridge beach, McCulloch Boulevard, Lake Havasu City.
As already previously mentioned, this event is sanctioned by the ICS and they are inviting chili chefs to attend, compete and test their culinary skills and chili recipes against other chefs. The winners of this 7th annual Lake Havasu chili cook-off would be eligible to compete at the ICS world chili cook-off championship scheduled to take place fall of this year.
Categories
There shall be four different categories that attending chefs will be competing in, which are;
1.Traditional Red: Which is a Texas-style recipe without beans or fillers. The entry fee for this category is $35.
- Homestyle: In this category, the chefs cook their favorite chili recipe but must include beans. This category has an entry fee of $30.
- Chili Verde: This category features a recipe with no beans or fillers and the entry fee is $30.
- Veggie Chili: This recipe is vegan, so no product but can have beans. Entry into this is $20.
The chili would be cooked at the competition venue with varying cooking times depending on the category but will be between 10am-3pm. There shall also be a ‘People’s Choice’ category in which participating cooks will make and serve the people’s choice chili. The audience will be served the chili after which they will vote their favorite. The chili must include beans, the chefs participating do not have to have ICS membership and $20 entry fee.
The Public
There shall be tasting kits on sale at the venue and will be sold at $8 to the public and the chili that will be prepared will be served to them for the duration of the competition or till it runs out.
Entry is still open to intending participants (cooks) and they are encouraged to register and show off their skill. Chefs taking part in competitive categories must be ICS members.
