Paddleboarding in Lake Havasu City is a great way to get out and enjoy the summer breeze! If you think we spelled it wrong we did not, it is in fact “paddleboard!” Paddleboarding is a surface water sport in which people are propelled by a “stand up paddle” used much like you would use in a canoe. The paddle consists of a blade, shaft and handle. Paddleboarding in Lake Havasu City has become quite a popular sport for the young and old.

Paddleboarding is a sport that began in the late 1960s and has regained much popularity all over the world and also here in Lake Havasu City. Hawaiian surf instructors used the technique to position themselves for taking photographs and more recently professional surfers use the technique for training. Paddleboarding here in Lake Havasu City has become more of a leisure activity which can be used for exercise and sight seeing!

Paddleboards are made from glass reinforced plastic using polyester or epoxy resin that is compatible with the polyurethane or expanded polystyrene foam used in the core. Some paddleboards use a hollow wood construction instead of foam with epoxy. Paddleboards are usually longer than 9 feet and can be longer than 12 feet with features such as padded decks (for grip and comfort) and concave hulls.
